Time in Nature is LiveWell

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedIn

Most commonly referred to as Wellness. It’s a global problem; people don’t practice enough Wellness or any at all.

Wellness, self-care, living well or wellbeing, are four different words that have the same meaning—looking after YOURSELF. Yourself being the operative word because we tend to forget about looking after ourselves, being too busy looking after work, family, and other pressing commitments.

Many celebrities over the last few years have embraced the importance and seriousness of wellness, and the practice of self-care. These celebs have spent a great deal of time promoting and even some devoting their lives to the Wellness Cause.

Arianna Huffington:

After writing her award-winning bestseller, Thrive, Arianna Huffington formed a new business and online platform devoted to the cause. www.thriveglobal.com

Kobe Bryant:

Kobe was a great supporter of wellness and self care. He dove into meditation. Please read the NY Times interview here.

Deepak Chopra:

The never ending beam of energy and positivity, Mr. Deepak Chopra. He’s devotede most of his life to helping people understand and practice wellness.

The Importance of Self-Care.

I like to remind people how crucial daily self-care or Wellness is. Taking care of yourself, slowing life down and being kind to yourself, makes you a much more productive, but above all, a happier person. I then often hear the time argument;

“How am I supposed to take care of myself, have a massage, when I have a stressful job, and three kids to look after? I just can’t manage it all.”

Not enough hours in the day?

I understand that time is always a sensitive subject. I often wish I’d have more hours in the day to get everything I want to get done. Many times I have to say to myself, come on Rob, it’s getting late, you better stop writing and reading, it’s time to relax, chill out and look after yourself.

The last thing you want to do is work right up until bedtime, be that work-work, or house/family work. Your brain and body need time to slow down, get adjusted to the nighttime, and get you into sleep mode. If your body is still running around, your brain is too. How can you get a good night’s rest of you are running around right until you hit the pillow?

Wellness or Living Well is KEY to YOUR Health.

Making Time & Time Management.

Back to the question of time:

Richard Branson famously said, “If you don’t have time, make time.”

You might be thinking that’s easy for him, a multibillionaire, to say. The truth is, we can all make time, we have to analyze our lives, how we manage and spend our time, then re-arrange things a little to create the time we need.

Another famous quote by Richard Branson is, “if you don’t have time for the small things, you won’t have time for the big things.”

Therefore making Time and Time Management are the keywords to successfully looking after yourself and implementing a healthy, healing, and life-improving wellness plan!

Time in Nature, is Wellness.

Action Plan.

Let’s take a look at the actions we can take and how to compile a manageable wellness plan:

Traditional and more time-consuming wellness practices:

  • Massage
  • Meditation
  • Long Walks in a Park, Beach, Mountain or Forest
  • Steam Room, Sauna or Jacuzzi
  • Pedicure and Manicure
  • Hair Treatment

Simple and less time-consuming self-care activities:

You can do these activities at home, in the office, in your car, bus, train, plane, outdoors, or wherever you wish:

  • Daily Walks, short or long
  • Go for a short Swim
  • The 5-Minute Power Nap
  • Breathing Exercises, for a minute or two
  • The 3-minute Meditation
  • Lie down for 5-minutes and Relax your Body and Mind
  • Spend time talking with Friends and Family
  • Go to the Cinema
  • Stretching (similar to yoga, but relaxing)
  • Enjoy a cup of Coffee or Tea, and Switch Off for 5-minutes
  • Take a Long Hot Shower or Bath before bed
  • Listen to Soothing Music during your commute
  • Coconut Oil: Use as a moisturizer for Face and Body, it relaxes.
  • Get sufficient SLEEP –> 7 to 8 hours is what our body and mind require!

The second list gives you a better idea of all the simple and easy things you can squeeze into your daily schedule. Pick and choose the activities that appeal to you, and you can create a soothing wellness plan, you can do anywhere and anytime. It’s that easy!

In the End, your Health depends a great deal on your Wellness.

In today’s hectic world filled with internal and external stressors, we all must slow ourselves down a little, breathe, and make an effort to look after ourselves.

Your heart and blood pressure will thank you by most likely giving you a longer life on this beautiful planet! There is plenty of science out there, proving that practicing Wellness will improve your overall health and can increase longevity.

Implementing a solid wellness plan can help you:

  • Enhance your health
  • Prevent illness
  • Reverse disease with lifestyle medicine (self-care)
  • Lower blood pressure
