Attacked in Pattaya For Just Chatting With a Beautiful Woman! Why?

What was supposed to be a chill afternoon working by the beach in Pattaya took an uncomfortable turn—all because I stopped to chat with a beautiful Thai woman when leaving a mall and walking the beach road to try to interview locals for a documentary I am producing about the region.

I was having a lovely time exploring the super cool Central Festival Shopping Mall in Pattaya, one of the most modern and upscale malls I’ve seen. Not that I’ma fan of malls, the contrary, but I was told to check this one out.

After the mall excursion, I walked over to the beach to try to interview women for my video about why they live in Pattaya, what they do for work, how they like it, plus where they come from in Thailand. It’s always of great interest to hear the individual stories and people’s backgrounds.

To my surprise I found a beautiful 23-year-old woman sitting on a bench relaxing during sunset.

Some are positive and inspiring, and others are concerning. In the case of this lady, her story was unfortunately rather sad as she had suffered from severe depression and inflicted harm to herself multiple times with knife cuts on her arms and legs.

The nasty turn of events

After our on-camera chat, I left but then came back to say goodbye and “be careful.”

Then this nasty old man sitting next to her (I believe he was trying to hit on her – a 70-year-old man!) called me a PEDO when I was simply making an interesting “real-life” video.

The old man, who was in poor health, clearly mentally challenged, and jealous could not control his mouth.

His hateful words at first surprised me – I could have pressed charges as I recorded his gross misconduct – which would have landed him in jail.

However, I kept my composure and didn’t allow him to spoil my pleasant encounter with the lovely woman and the great time I was having. So, like a real man should, I told him to guard his mouth and moved on.

The Risk: If he has said that word to a man not as pleasant, collected, and educated as me he would be in big trouble! In other words, some tough and rough guy would not hestitated to smack him.

If the old grumpy old boy doesn’t get a grip of his tongue, he will soon end up in a “bloody mess!”
