What You Don’t Understand About Fitness and Your Body

And that's why most folks fail to reach their body goals.

Box Your Way Out of Poor Health?

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedIn

Yesterday I read a story about a lady in Mexico who’s very much overweight and knows it, yet she says she’s comfortable with it. Because it’s easy, she says.

She goes on to explain she works out hard daily, one-hour weightlifting, followed by one-hour boxing — every day!

This has helped her lose 20 lbs., yet she’s still at least 80 lbs. overweight.

She eats whatever she wants and as much as she wants and that makes her happy with herself.

I get it. The training delivers plenty of happy hormones (endorphins) and makes her feel confident. The food, and the relentless enjoyment of food, give her comfort and pleasure.

In her mind she’s doing it all right and being overweight is therefore just a body build and unlucky genetics.

Wrong.

Sure, genetics do play a considerable role in your body composition, however, your outcome is determined by you.

How you eat, move, rest and sleep. Your lifestyle.

In other words, by your actions, you greatly manipulate your genes to respond differently than they would normally.

The Problem.

1. This lady is overtraining, a lot, which may be causing heart disease due to excessive cortisol release in her bloodstream.

2. In turn this leads to massive appetite stimulation and overeating. Binge eating.

Overeating adds back all the calories the workouts burnt off and some. Especially if she is eating whatever she likes, meaning poor quality sugary foods, carbs, and fried food.

This behavior renders the working out useless and only adds back the weight and overall health problem, which could result in early death.

And that is the sad part of life, training, and food that people do not understand.

You’re risking your life behaving this way, whether it’s comfortable for you or not.

The primary consideration in life should be your overall health, well-being, and potential longevity. Not your comfort.

The Solution.

1. Cut back on the frequency and duration of training to 3 to 4 times maximum per week. One hour for each workout is more than sufficient.

2. Scale back on the food/calorie intake by 50%.

3. Try to eat fewer carbs, no processed or fast foods, and cut out all sugar and fried food.

If this lady would follow these simple guidelines, while still enjoying her favorite food, and her training, she would lose a ton of weight, build a healthier heart, feel and look much better all around.

The result will be her feeling much more comfortable and confident with her body and herself.

In Summary.

Training, food, and your resulting body is a badly misunderstood subject. Yet, it’s so simple to correct if you follow natural principles and think through what you’re doing to yourself.

What do we all want in the end?

Good health, and long life.

Please change your ways, my Mexican friend.
