Keto Life Keeps You Healthy

A day in Singapore, living the Keto Life, and with the Corona Virus looming!

A quick 24-hour trip to Singapore was a little sad and disappointing, with two exceptions.

The Coronavirus is taking its toll on China’s and is affecting Singapore and other Asian countries and their economies. The first thing you notice when checking in flying to Singapore is a sign telling you that you will be quarantined for two weeks if you have recently visited China. Thankfully, my last visit to China was in October 2019, so I didn’t need to go to the kennels!

The Airport.

When arriving in the mostly empty airport, you are greeted by people in masks, pointing heat sensor guns at your head, trying to fish out people who have a fever. Ok, I get that. But why would you be silly enough to travel with fever, especially in this time of the Coronavirus crisis?

The Hotel.

This part I didn’t expect and felt is going too far. As you walk into your hotel, you are politely stopped and forced to have your temperature taken. This practice becomes a little annoying if you are coming and going a lot, as I was. You notice the dining room is empty and soon realize the hotel is empty too — not a good sign.

The Food Challenge.

I had only eaten three hard-boiled eggs throughout the day traveling, and it was already 4pm. So I went in search of a restaurant where I could find my keto life foods. Luckily, I stumbled into this quaint little place, called Jacob’s Café. Their menu was extensive, and the quality and taste of the food were excellent.

I was pleasantly surprised to find German food on the menu. German and Austrian food is still one of my all-time favorites amd super Keto friendly very meaty and hearty! I spent 20 years living in Austria, so I know the real deal, and Jacob’s measured up.

Nobody Home.

The sad part was Jacob’s Café, and all the other restaurants along the street near my hotel were practically empty. It felt like its residents and travelers had deserted Singapore.

All you hear everyone talking about is the Coronavirus, and how contagious it is. Several times I was asked if I wasn’t worried about catching the virus while traveling to Singapore. My answer was always a firm no. After all, I live the Keto Life, which means I eat 100% natural and real food only, and no processed foods!

That’s the beautiful thing about living the Keto life and eating as we were supposed to, like back the primal days, you don’t get sick quickly. Removing fast foods, grains, sugars, and processed foods not only makes you lose the fat but it also massively strengthens your immune system.

I don’t know about you, but for me, those two benefits I just mentioned (fat loss and a robust immune system) are priceless.

My Message.

For those of you considering going keto or having trouble staying keto, just think about those two benefits alone. There are many more that will significantly improve your health and fitness levels. Sacrificing rice, pasta, bread, noodles, fries, cereal, cakes, and cookies, and all sugar is well worth it in my book, when you can truly control your health?

Recommendations.

Changi Cove Hotel, Changi Village, Singapore.

The staff was super friendly and helpful, rooms nicely decorated, spacious, and clean. The location is great, perfect for a short stay, only a 10-minute tax ride from the airport, surrounded by a lush forest and a lovely beach.

I loved the boardwalk that wraps around Changi Cove. It’s a beautiful place to chill out, walk, and get inspired.

Jacob’s Cafe, Changi Village, Singapore.

If you are in the area, I highly recommend having lunch or dinner at Jacob’s Café. Try their German food; it’s excellent!

Thanks for reading and please feel free to ask me anything in the comments section.
