How To Walk and Train Effectively in Concrete Jungles Instead of Nature

I’m taking a break from Bali to write, walk, train, and live the healthy life in Singapore.

How To Walk and Train Effectively in Concrete Jungles Instead of Nature

Bright Lights and Concrete Jungles

I’ve been living in Bali without leaving since October 2019. I love Bali like no other place I’ve been. But you know, from time to time you need a break from wherever you may live.

Travel was near impossible due to COVID, and I chose not to. Now that I’m fully vaccinated, I’m not too worried about it. A beautiful opportunity has arisen to go to Singapore for work and personal reasons.

Despite the new variant problem floating around, I decided, to heck with it, it’s time to take a break! Let’s do it!

I was initially a little worried about going to a city, as I love nature so much, but then I remembered my past before I came to Bali. I lived in NYC and did just fine with my walking and training program in that concrete jungle!

This trip will give me a fresh perspective on you folks living in cities (cold or warm climates) and how I can help you maximize your efforts to gain optimal health and fitness.

Cities & Traffic & Workouts.

Cities generally come with a lot of traffic which means travel, delays, and lost time. I’ll try to figure out the best way to live in a city, saving time and maximizing my productivity while I’m at it — for work and health.

Once I arrive and am situated, I’ll figure out my options for walking and training. Be that the streets, parks, or gyms!

Yes, I said it — gyms!

I’m not particularly eager to work out in gyms as I find them limiting and unpleasant. But, I’m all about being flexible and trying new (or old) things to expand my horizon.

Thankfully Singapore has a tropical climate, so I’ll still be able to spend plenty of time walking the streets and parks, early morning and evening.

I’m looking forward to that as it’s great fun walking city streets, with lots of exciting things to see. And there are always loads of street obstacles around to knock out alternative bodyweight workout routines.

Food.

Food is the most critical aspect of a healthy lifestyle — it’s always top of my list. Singapore (like most big cities) has a vast array of great restaurants and top-quality supermarkets — I’m not worried about getting hold of the ingredients I need to cook and seeking out some lovely local restaurants.

I avoid the expensive ones, as I don’t believe in indulging like that these days. I like to keep things minimalistic. Simple local restaurants are mostly the best anyway.

Primarily I plan to cook for my friend and myself — I ultimately know that home cooking is the best you can do for your health. That way, you know what’s going into your food, and, what it’s cooked with (oils, etc.).

Making an effort to purchase good quality food (organic if you can), and cooking yourself, is vital for good health, folks.

Life.

I’m really looking forward to living the city life again for a while. To be honest, I’ve missed it.

Exploring the city, cafes, restaurants, local trade, learning about history and culture, and talking with new folks. That’s what life is all about. New horizons and perspectives!

Staying stuck in the same place for too long is never a good idea, mostly for your mindset. Switching things up changes everything.

Let’s see how I do!

In Summary.

If you are healthy, feeling good, and fully vaccinated, don’t fear travel. It’s time to explore, and we can’t stop the natural call to take ventures.

You can always find the time and place to walk and work out in a healthy format no matter where you go.

The key is to always, I mean always, make sure you watch your food and do not divert to poor quality, processed sugary, or fast foods.

Eat natural and clean food, guys! And walk, walk a lot!

That’s all you have to do to maintain good health and fitness.

Thanks for reading,

Rob
