Why You Should Go For A Checkup Even If You Feel Fine

When are you most likely to make an appointment to see a doctor? The answer is – for a lot of people, anyway – when you’re unwell. If you’ve got some kind of illness you just can’t shake, calling up the local GP and getting an appointment to see an expert is often at the top of the list; after all, no one wants to be unwell for longer than they really have to be (or at all!).

But what if we told you that it actually makes a lot of sense to make an appointment to see your doctor (or dentist, or optician, and so on) even if you’re feeling absolutely fine, and to make it an annual appointment that you ensure you never miss? You might be confused, or you might think it’s a waste of time, but we’re here to say that this is a great idea. With that in mind, here are some of the reasons why you should go for a checkup even if you feel fine.

Get To Know Your Doctor

One reason to make this kind of annual checkup appointment with your doctor is to get to know them better. That’s not to say you need to become best friends with them or know a lot about them, but it does mean getting to understand how to get to the surgery, how to check in, what the staff is like, what the parking is like, and so on. In that way, you’ll be a lot more confident to make an appointment when you really need one because you’ll already know exactly what the doctor and the clinic are like and how to access everything.

Further, make sure your doctor is up to date on the latest nutrition and healthy lifestyle facts! Old-school doctors who don’t know anything about food and diets are to be avoided!

You can also make sure you do plenty of research, like finding out if the surgery uses a good healthcare staffing agency and always has plenty of people around to help you, or whether they’re always running late and it might be better to find a new surgery to register with. When you have all the information you can find, getting healthy when you need help becomes a lot easier.

Preventative Checks

Perhaps the most important reason to have an annual health check with your doctor is to ensure you’re well. You might feel great, but that doesn’t mean you’re one hundred percent healthy inside, and even if you can’t spot any issue, that doesn’t mean your doctor and the tests won’t be able to.

If there is a problem, finding out early on before you even have any symptoms (or very few symptoms) can mean the outcome is a lot more positive and easier to fix.

On top of this, when you see your doctor, you’ll get a lot of useful information and advice about how to stay healthy and prevent as many health conditions as possible. Whether it’s about how much exercise to do, what to eat, or quitting certain bad habits, it’s all going to help you in the end, and hearing it from a health expert always makes it much more likely that you’ll do what they say.

Final Thoughts

The best and most reliable way to stay on top of your health and in great overall shape is:

1 – Eat a healthy diet that consists of meat, fish, eggs, seafood, some vegetables, dairy products, and animal fats, and enjoy some berries, nuts, and dark chocolate too. Go low-carb, and high-protein. above all completely ditch all sugars!

2 – Move your body frequently by walking, swimming, biking, or any other low-key sports you enjoy, and do a little strength training 2. to 3 times per week, plus a sprinting session here and there.
